The waiting is the point.
Shared albums fill up during the party, and everyone spends the night looking at a screen. Kept holds every photo back until the last guest has gone home.
Nothing sits behind a blur you can tap through. Until the film develops the photos are never sent to anyone’s phone at all, so there is nothing to peek at. Then they arrive together, and you see your own night through everybody else’s eyes at once.

03Why Kept
A camera, not an upload form.
Most event photo apps are a form with a camera icon on it. Guests shoot in their own camera, look, retake, pick the good ones, then upload. Kept is the camera itself: a viewfinder, a frame dial counting down the roll, and a shutter that flashes once and moves on. You never see the shot you just took, so you go back to the party instead of checking it.
Film cameras got the feeling right and the logistics wrong. Shared albums got the logistics right and lost the feeling. Kept keeps the good half of each. Named comparisons, with sources, are under Compare.

05How the reveal is enforced
Not hidden. Not delivered.
Most apps that promise a reveal download the photos and put a blur on top. Kept does not. Before a roll develops, the server leaves photo addresses out of every response it sends, to everyone. Not to the host, not to the person who took the picture.
Inspect the network traffic and you will find a list of names and frame numbers, and nothing else. That is the whole trick, and it is why there is nothing to peek at.
- Server-enforced. The reveal is a rule the API follows, not a setting in the app.
- Encrypted at rest. Photos are stored encrypted on AWS S3 in us-east-1.
- No accounts for guests. Access is a random token in the phone’s secure storage.
- No ads, no data sales. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising, and the app carries no third-party trackers.

Do my guests need to download anything?
No. They scan the code, type their name, and the camera opens. On an iPhone it launches instantly as an App Clip. On anything else it runs in the browser.
Can anyone see the photos early?
Nobody, including you. Before the film develops the photos are never sent to any device. They are not blurred or hidden, they simply are not delivered. If you want them sooner you can develop the roll early from your phone.
How many photos does each guest get?
36, the same as a real disposable camera. Add Unlimited Shots and the cap comes off for everyone on the roll.
What happens to the photos afterwards?
They stay in the roll, and anyone who was there can save the full set to their camera roll in one tap. Create a free account and you can come back to it from any device.
Is it really a one-time price?
Yes. You pay once for the event, based on how many guests can join. Nothing renews and nothing charges again later.
What if more people show up than I planned for?
Add guests mid-event from your phone. The roll keeps running and everyone already shooting is unaffected.
What if the venue wifi is bad?
Guests keep shooting. Shots upload in the background and catch up when the signal does.
How long are the photos kept?
Nothing is deleted on a schedule. Photos open instantly for the first 30 days, then move to cheaper storage and stay instant. From day 120 they move to deep archive and retrieval takes 12 to 48 hours, so save anything you want permanent access to in the first few months.
Can a guest use a nickname?
Yes. Guests type any name they like. It appears beside their photos and does not have to be their real one. No account, email or phone number is needed to shoot.
