Why it exists

The disposable camera on the wedding table is a good idea with bad logistics. Every guest becomes a photographer. Nobody can check the shot. Nobody sees anything until later. Then someone has to collect thirty cameras, drive them to a lab, wait, scan, and share. Kept keeps the first half and deletes the second.

We also wanted a reveal that meant something. Most apps that promise “hidden until later” deliver the photo and put a blur on it. We built the server so that it does not send photos at all until the roll develops, to anyone, including the host and the person who took the picture. That is the part we are proudest of and the part nobody sees.

Who makes it

Kept is made by WayPointLabs, which also runs Vowesta, a free wedding website and planning platform. Kept is the photo feature inside Vowesta and a standalone product for any event at kept.film. The same team runs the infrastructure for other businesses, which is how a free tier and one-time pricing are possible.

How it is run

  • Guests are not users. They type a name and shoot. No account, no email, no phone number to shoot.
  • One price, once. An event is a one-off and is priced like one. Nothing renews.
  • No ads, no data sales. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising and the app carries no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.
  • Plain words. The docs say what the product does, including the limits. If a page on this site says something about another product, it cites that product’s own site and the date we checked.
